it was funny! you're awesome whoever is making these.
Putting that final panel in. ... it's stupid fun and it's totally bad and i love it.
wahh wahh wahh wahhhhhhhh!!
also: hey guys, remember homie the clown?
amy beth- thanks! i make that trombone sound too. gawd i love it!
Great comic, pitiful comments.
Taking the meaning of a figurative phrase literally is humerous.
"Copped" means "obtained," "Call of Duty 6" is the name of the videogame, and "dunny" means "friend."
Scott, Dunny is just another word for friend, buddy, homie, etc. there is no hidden joke behind it.
Also it features another appearance of T-dog, who if you remember (or don't remember) in a previous comic, rejected an invitation to play a dice game.
I also love how you mix human and dog characters.
This is both my favourite drawn and written comic. Written in terms of how the characters speak and interact.
SUCKER!
Even after it was explained, it still wasn't funny.
And was it really necessary for all the frames to be the same size? Frames 2 and 3 could have easily been shrunken down to fit in the same amount of space as a single frame, and there's a lot of wasted space whenever the main focus is actually the cat character. Especially since the dog isn't doing anything most of the time.
I believe I said it once before, and if not, here it is--there's a difference between a storyboard and a comic, and I feel it's necessary to learn the difference in order to have a successful comic that everyone can enjoy.
And now I sit here and wait for you to once again view my critiquing as trolling.
Whoever is SILLY(STUPID) enough to think that i was/am attempting to make a comic that "EVERYONE" can enjoy probably shouldn't be commenting on it the first place let alone looking at my comic when they obviously have expectations for something else...THAT I'M NOT TRYING TO DO.
nor will i ever do.
OH you know, i just make comics that allow me to do:
a. stupid puns
b. funny drawings
c. funny acting
d. funny pacing
I believe i've achieved most of those.
and guess what.
OH BOY HERE'S THE KICKER
NOT EVERYONE LIKES THAT STUFF.
and.
I DON'T EXPECT THEM TO.
because
I REALIZE THAT IT'S A PRETTY SPECIFIC STYLE THAT ONLY SOME PEOPLE WILL ENJOY.
What i've yet to understand is why people keep coming back to "CRITICIZE" my work, or find "faults" in it, just because THEY didn't enjoy it, and they feel need to impress their expectations on me for not doing a comic THEY WANT TO SEE.
WOW. that makes lots of sense. Well if you'll excuse i'm going to go complain to Lil Wayne, because honestly i think if he started making music with more soul and less commercial bullshit i would enjoy it more. I'll go tell him how to do his shit, because i am selfish self righteous know-it-all who tells other people how shit should be done. at the end of the day the world revolves around me and my ideals. I'm too lazy to go out and find shit i actually like, instead i just like tearing down those who get more attention than i do who obviously need to be "schooled" in whatever it is they are doing.
PEACE
p.s. and of course you sit and wait for my comments, you love the attention, you wouldn't have posted otherwise. congratulations on being so goddamn transparent and borderline, dare i say pathetic, but at least you're honest about it.
do you know about it?
the cat's poses are energetic and all over the place, the dog isn't doing anything, because he is mellow, relaxed, super chill (urban dictionary these words if they aren't ringing a bell), he is unimpressed with the cat's enthusiasm for the game. That's his character... that's whats kind of FUNNY About it, he doesn't give a shit then shoots the cat down with a minimalistic hand action + line of dialogue. Contrast is normally established when you juxtapose two or more vastly different things.
How can you tell if a tree is tall (by showing it next to a small house). Oh, i think you get the idea.
But, I guess to have a successful comic that everyone can enjoy, and understand, i need to make sure to follow your rules.
thanks for the tips.
Anyway about your previous comment. This is the COMMENT section, and also your comic shares the site with FIVE other comics. Meaning if people think that yours is lacking compared to the others they have a right to say so. Stop making yourself a victim and learn to take constructive criticism. Dumm comics was around about a year longer than you, so if a good portion of the audience has criticism of your newly added comic, why not take it? That's what I would do at least, instead of yelling and cursing at them every week.
I am only trying to help you make the comic a little more enjoyable to a wider audience. Maybe if you actually took critiques to heart rather than bitching to those who give them, calling them trolls or haters, more people would be leaving positive feedback on your work. But apparently you don't want that, so I guess my efforts to help you improve have simply fallen on deaf ears.
Keep in mind--when you first got here, I liked your work. It was different. But it steadily went downhill and only got worse since you won't bother to improve yourself by listening to critiques. Not all critics hate you. Some of us want to help.
28. no. you are wrong.
keep reading these comments and responding to bump up the hits on the site.
thanks guys.
:(
Oh dear. what are we going to do.
If David makes an apple pie because he likes apples and you tell him he should've made a blueberry pie because you like blueberries, that's not criticism. It's just taste.
It's not David's fault you didn't get the joke, and he can make the panels what ever fucking size he wants. He's the artist. He made it.
I seriously hope that you're just being a clever little troll and not an actual fool who is blind to his own contradictions.
Critiquing is means so that the artist can improve their work. It's a form of feedback designed to help someone. If there is a flaw that can be fixed for the greater good of the artwork, a critic will point it out so that the artist knows there's a flaw that can be fixed.
Trolling is just being a douche overall and taking pleasure in making someone feel bad about themselves.
I am really trying to help David out here, but apparently it's falling on deaf ears. I understand there's personal preference out there, but you sometimes have to sacrifice your own taste in order to cater to a wider audience.
But if he does not want to improve and grow as an artist, then so be it. I don't think he'll be able to last long with the same small audience if he doesn't at least attempt to better himself.
Would you like us to critique your comic for you so you can get on dumm? Just some basic advice, you don't want to have any sort of intelligent humor in it, otherwise people won't get it and will start giving you terrible "advice" on how to improve it.
Everytime I read this comic it gets even funnier, thank you Luckster.
I have no intentions to get on Dumm with either LHHTP or my other project currently in the works.
One project is on a Hiatus due to lack of inspiration, and the other is still being written and is a more serious storyline, rather than miscellaneous strips poking fun of the stupid people I see in my life.
Either project isn't worthy of being on Dumm. It doesn't meet the proper standards, in my opinion. That, and I don't think my work can match up or compare to the works of some of the original Dumm heads.
I'm personally fine with critiquing. It helps. I've had a few before, mainly based on my lack of backgrounds. I took those critiques to heart and started taking extra time to make backgrounds in my comics, and people enjoy its image even more.
I've had critiques about anatomy too. I also took those to heart and spent every time during the sketching phase to make sure the anatomy looks correct and still keeps up the look of my intended style.
I don't kick and scream and bitch when people try to critique me in order to better my comics. I unfortunately have assumed that other artists would follow the same. It seems not everyone strives to improve.
keep 'em coming.
I LOVE THROWING THESE CHILD FITS and you love criticizing me.
It's a win win.
Maybe Luckster was LUCKY enough to get a few hits on her blog and her comic after criticizing my own and making such a big fuss.
Clever Clever Luckster.
But remember, you keep coming back to Dumm at the end of the day.
THIS ISNT ABOUT FUNNY COMICS WITH FUNNY DRAWINGS PEOPLE, ITS ABOUT HITS AND BUMPING UP OUR AD REVENUE.
BOOYA
"I understand there's personal preference out there, but you sometimes have to sacrifice your own taste in order to cater to a wider audience."
That idea seems logical, but I don't believe it to be true exactly. You CAN cater to an audience and give them what you think they want, in order to find success, but in my opinion many of the best things created were by people trying only to please themselves, then sharing it. But when you do that, opinions might be more diverse...some will HATE it, others will LOVE it.
The difference is that when you create something purely for yourself, it's going to be more honest, and more unique to the artist creating it. Someone who tries to cater to the audience may have wider success, but the end product will (most likely) be lacking in honesty and individual style.
Of course, I realize that most people who make comics, music, or any kind of art WANT to share it and have people like it, and therefore the audience has to be taken into consideration (you don't want to alienate everyone). But too much thinking on those lines may smother the best things about an artist.
That's it! :)
Regarding the punchline, it probably would have been funnier if you showed a close-up of the cat's disappointed face, but way more detailed and exaggerated than he does right now, like in Ren & Stimpy sometimes, because that really seems to be the influence for this comic, like the Broham comic you first did. That was hilarious. Sorry that I can't say the same about this one. :I
I mean read his last post and the posts he was responding to. You can't deny he acted pretty lame there Katie.
It works great.
Coincidence that Luckster links her blog to her comic that she mentions in one of her comments?
Coincidence that Gobstobber echoes Luckster's opinions of me?
I think not. Obviously a group of friends who under the pretext of "trying to help me" are in reality just looking for attention in the wrong places.
and "woe is me" is pity, i never asked anyone to pity me, i was just explaining things in an elaborate fashion.
Again more misinterpretation by someone who tries to twist facts around to suit their shitty argument. Congratulations.
Like I said you share the site with 5 other comics. So these people aren't trolls who want attention, they're just the people who read the other 5 comics and then see yours and say how bad it was. But yeah keep thinking their just picking on you and there's no truth to it. And then keep whining, and say "I'm only doing it to make more money" That's pretty stupid dood.
peace
booya
I'm out.
